Dear (RANK AND LAST NAME)
Congratulations on your selection to attend the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer's Academy (SNCOA) beginning (DATE) and graduating on (DATE). Only those Senior Noncommissioned Officers (SNCO) who are best qualified are selected to attend the SNCOA. The Air Force has picked you because you meet that criteria.
Professional Military Education (PME) is designed to provide the varied leadership skills required at each level of enlisted supervision and management throughout the Air Force. It enhances the professional development of enlisted members by strengthening their ability to lead and manage while they gain a broader understanding of the military profession.
The SNCOA prepares selected SNCOs to to be more effective in dealing with the problems facing today’s Air Force. The all-volunteer service, contemporary social problems, and the changing world environment are a few of the problems that have complicated the SNCO’s job and created a need for additional professional military education. This is accomplished through the educational objectives contained in AFI 36-2301, NCO Professional Military Education. While these are the primary objectives; the staff has included several other equally important objectives. These include: fostering pride in the NCO corps, developing initiative and self-confidence, building teamwork and esprit-de-corps, and valuing honor, loyalty, and dedication to duty.
You should read your student's guide thoroughly when you receive it from Formal Training. You may contact the Military Personnel Flight Formal Training Section, First Sergeant or the SNCO Academy if you have questions not covered by the guide.
I challenge you to make the most of your time while attending the school and return prepared to put your newly acquired skills to work in your duty section and the squadron.
Again, congratulations on your selection and good luck.
Sincerely
